Delta Chapter History
With the on-campus Bible study Soldiers For Christ steadily growing and the Christian Fraternity, Sigma Theta Epsilon, newly founded, Christian women on campus had it in mind that Missouri Valley needed a way for godly women to grow closer to each other and to God. After researching several different options, the sister hood Gamma Alpha Lambda came to the attention in Spring of 2007. A member of the STE fraternity had a cousin at Northwest Missouri State University who was in GAL. After contacting GAL, an interview was done in Springfield, Missouri, and finally GAL became an official on-campus organization on April 25, 2007.
The Founding Mothers of the Delta chapter of Gamma Alpha Lambda were: Sarah (Hoormann) Mustoe, President; Leah (Jenkins) Kerwood, Vice President of Membership; Jill (Adametz) Francis, Vice President of Rush; Ashley (Graham) Williams, Vice President of Public Relations; Laresa Adams (Treasurer); and Tatum Hathcock, Secretary. The first official rush semester of the Delta chapter of GAL was Fall 2007. We gained a total of six new members into our Alpha Class, doubling our numbers. In Spring of 2008, we gained two more members as our Beta Class.
The sisterhood of GAL has truly been a blessing at Missouri Valley. Sadly, there were not enough members to continue a GAL chapter on the Missouri Valley Campus, so in the Spring of 2012 the Delta chapter was dissolved. If you know someone interested in starting another GAL chapter at Missouri Valley, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
