Gamma Alpha Lambda was founded on September 16, 2003, at Missouri State University, in Springfield Missouri. The first chapter was called the Alpha Chapter, whose founding members included Brooke Bayer, Emily Landis, Sarah Buchanan, Laura Davis, Lindsay Hutchens, and Debra McDowell.
In April 2005, GAL expanded to Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, Missouri, where the Beta Chapter of Gamma Alpha Lambda was started. The founding members of the Beta Chapter included: Kelsie Fell, Allison Kenealy, Jaclyn Gutierrez, Erin Talley, Katie Welch, and Chanda Moran.
Gamma Alpha Lambda expanded again in February 2007. University Missouri-Kansas City, in Kansas City, Missouri founded the Gamma Chapter. The founding members of the Gamma Chapter included Whitney Young, Jennifer Carlson, Jordan Fort, MacKenzie Gamble, Nicole Potter, Sarah McGehee, and Leah Sanchez.
In April 2007 Gamma Alpha Lambda expanded again, starting a chapter at Missouri Valley College, in Marshall, Missouri. The Delta Chapter founding members included Sarah Hoormann , Leah Jenkins , Jill Francis , Ashley Williams , Laresa Adams , and Tatum Hathcock.
Additional chapters were formed at Pittsburgh State University in Pittsburg, Kansas and at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri.
In 2024, Gamma Alpha Lambda has one active chapter, located at Pittsburg State University. If you are interested in restarting or forming a chapter of GAL at your college or university, contact us for information about starting a chapter.
We, the ladies of Gamma Alpha Lambda, are a sisterhood bonded to Christ who are growing in our faith journeys, serving with a heart like His, spreading love and sharing our faith with others, and submitting our lives to the Lord.
